Yes, the Iron Man craze has taken hold of me and I dont want to be released. Recently, Ive been trying to get my arse in gear and, although this will ultimately be a futile exercise doomed to failure, decided to take opportunity and draw something I currently love.
Art and I have this weird relationship.. We begin hating each other, that kind of ends up growing into something kinda nice, by the time were both done. I began with a reference, you may recognize the photo this is drawn from, but alas Photobucket is being a tool and wont allow upload, and did my best to keep to the armour details there.
Really.. my brain is my worst enemy, cause sometimes it makes my art seem worse than it actually is. Low self-esteem a direct correlation to your perceptions. I returned to the finished piece a little time later, and was literally kicked in the teeth by its coolness. :3 Its called pride, people. I shall enjoy it, while it lasts.. as I might not feel quite as good about this tomorrow.
This is a rubbish scan, to add to that.. I cheated. I poked around in the brigtness/contrast settings, as well as decreasing the height by 3%... thats to do with my retarded drawing position, and the resultant skewed perspective. I am really proud of the end result and hope to continue to improve. :3

Wow. This is really good! The shading on the armor makes it seem more dimensional, not flat, and actually brings life to this picture. Also, the shadows on his face give it some depth, too. Great job~
And I understand the whole love-hate relationship with art. At first I'll start a drawing and I'm pumped to finish it, but after about six or seven hours I really hate it and it takes all of my willpower to keep going. And, of course, the end product doesn't seem good at all to me, though I'll get rave reviews from others. *sigh*

Thank you kindly! Aye, the best thing you can do is try to work from the picture as closely as possible, by the end I find that I've unwittingly learnt something that otherwise would have gone unnoticed if I'd 'winged' it.
Aye! Indeed.. my limit is about 7 hours too. A good alternative is to work on two projects at the same time, that way, if you're sick of one, you can pop over to the other one for a bit of variety. :3

A brand new monthly article which showcases some of deviantART's finest equine artists, as well as recognizing the lesser-known but equally talented ones. Interviews, helpful tutorials and features can all be found here too! I hope you enjoy it.
The idea of this contest is to set you up completely blind with a mythical being - from any world culture - and turn you loose to come up with a deviation based around it!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
