:bulletblue: ‘Fox Run Run’ is a piece of art requested by my good friend ~SilentTrainConductor

:bulletblue: Lady Stephanie ordered a ‘fox with a very bushy tail’, and this was a painting I had a great pleasure in creating. As a singularity in a continuum of artists for whom backgrounds is that dreaded Achilles heel, I decided to face my fear and handle that first. After sketching the central creature, I painted the background, making sure that the perspective made some sense. I still managed to cheat, though… when I blurred the ‘far back’ of the backdrop to simulate distance focus loss. This meant that many details could be easily left out.
:bulletgreen: That is really good advice for anyone struggling with backgrounds, as the backdrop will dictate the shadows/lighting/colour on the central creature/character which is often the ‘easy bit’ for many arties. In the end, all of the elements will fit into the whole and you shall have a kewl super-complete result. Therefore, firstly - background, lastly - character.
:bulletblue: I am really proud of this ‘un! Even though the colouring on the foxie was touch-and-go for a moment, it managed to emerge victorious. *loves* My favourite part is the splish-splash left in the wake of his/her foot.
