Greetings!

Today was a good day! I've been
really looking forward to
Iron Man ever since it was announced; have always kept an eye out for tasty sci-fi. Even when it was announced that the unlikeliest of people (*cough* Robert Downey jr. *cough*) was going to be the hero, didnt phase me. Ive learnt to give everything a chance and never stomp anything down before Ive seen it.
Well.. for the most part. Besides despite all, Ive always found him an interesting and eccentric actor, and he always caught my eye even in
supporting roles. The three of us, my Stepmum and Dad made it.. even though he did need a day advance warning. Poor thing is so busy at the moment.

Also, I am officially a complete geekoid.
grins goofily Before the screening, as we sat in the dusk eagerly awaiting the screening, I leant over to C excitedly and shared with her what I read recently about the new
particle accelerator. Apparently, there is a slim chance of it not only creating micro black holes but also creating some strange particles which can destroy and convert all matter of our planet into strange matter. The chance is slim, but it got me excited enough to catch my breath somewhat. More importantly though, there is a chance of finally finding proof of the elusive graviton, and therefore further the M-theory (
string theory). Love it! Cant wait for doomsday! <3

The movie was
fucking brilliant!
Iron Man is officially my favourite superhero movie of all time. It had all the peril, violence
some of which had me questiong why this was a 12A as opposed to a 15 rating and minimal romance, which I detest. The beginning rolled on a little slowly, but the fact that we were greeted by Back in Black by AC/DC made me sure that were gonna be alright.
Rock n' Rollz is part of my pet loves since
Guitar Hero III as well as
Supernatural
The special effects, although of the visible variety werent overwhelming and disgustingly cotton-candyish, like the recent rainbow vomit-fest that was Star Wars episodes I, II and III. They were suitably woven into the visuals and the science and didn't feel out of place. Enjoyable amount of detail there, nothing I felt was lacking. I really loved seeing a superhero with a visible vulnerability that was the source of his power in the same instance. .. and yes, he did fly like a penguin.

Hands up to the awesomeness to Downey Jr. Then there was the perennial Mr Dude himself; Jeff Bridges. Any guy who shaves his locks for a role and doesnt whine about it, is in my good books. Awesome.
Tron and
Starman are love.

Apart from a few glaring science mistakes (electro-
magnet to keep shrapnel
away from the heart.. what does that do to all the paperclips in Starks general office vicinity?...not to mention the technology inside the suit), the movie feels real fantastic, is enjoyably deep and suitably escapist. What's more, it was funny and has a few good-hearted laughs in there! I highly recommend it and shall be eagerly awaiting the double-DVD special edition with all the bells and whistles come Xmas. :3

And, lol.. was I really the only one who spotted the obvious visual reference to
Star Wars close to the beginning of the movie. Think; Storm Troopers legging it from a yelling Han Solo? Anyone?

P.S. Soooooo going to see it again next week. Dio-melon, if you want to come and take your HairyMonster along, I have three money-off vouchers, and would love to see you two again.. besides I have a present for your B-day to give ya! <3
